Greetings Family & Friends!

I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits! Maybe this letter is not as much of a surprise for many of you because I have often talked about the Mexico trip last year and the continued calling that God has set in front of me to come along side some of the most energized and spirt filled kids I have ever known to be the hands and feet of God to bless others in more than one way.

Last year’s Mexico trip was my second and our group of adults and high school kids from Oak Pointe Church had doubled from the prior year so that we could build five homes that trip. We spent time alongside our sponsored family to build a HOME that they can live and grow in together as part of Gods greater plan. This year’s group will again top 60 people so that we can bless five families in a profound way. How you might ask – One big way I learned was that simply by replacing a dirt floor with a concrete floor significantly decreased infections and other illness by more than 80% in some cases thereby increasing the chances of a young child to simply survive.

Unfortunately, our sponsored families are typically living in a makeshift shelter made from whatever materials they can find to protect themselves from the elements. We will again travel to Ensenada, Mexico to work with the group Baja Bound and partner with them to build five houses for five different families. Working alongside our Baja Bound construction leads, and the family that will live in the house, we will build these homes so they can grow in God’s love and His blessing. It is amazing to me that when we begin the trip and arrive at the home site that we are welcomed with such love and then to see and be a part of the heartfelt efforts to not only build a structure but to share God’s love with both the family and each other. I am not the guy to go walk around and knock on doors, but I can have a conversation with someone while swinging a hammer that speaks to and about God.

Now, another year later, I have been looking forward to returning once again to see how God may use my gifts to bless another family, share the gospel with a great bunch of high school kids to learn about Jesus, and to bless those that are around me however the Lord may see fit. Our church mission statement includes “Knowing Jesus and Making him known” and how amazing it is to bless another five families this time around!

We have already had our first Mission meeting for the purpose of learning about and training for the many things that will be required to go on a mission trip. I trust that I will once again learn from working alongside a great group of kids and adults! I hope to this year step out of my comfort zone and lead an evening devotional – perhaps pray for me in this alone so that even in the times that I am not sure what to say, I will feel the Lord leading and guiding me as I share a little of my testimony and His truth with the team.

I continue to be a long-term disciple project, and I find myself often wondering the what and why of things so I must trust in Gods’ guidance and Lord knows I need all I can get. I have been very fortunate in that when I need it most God has put the right person in my life to help guide or shape my heart to benefit others more than myself.

It would be an honor to have you partner with me through prayers of safety, protection, and team unity. My personal prayer is that I would die to my own selfish desires so that Christ can live through me and use me to bring him glory in this very special country.

I also need your help to make this trip happen financially. If you are willing and feel led to donate financially to my trip, I would greatly appreciate that too!

My total cost for this trip is again $2000 but only because our church has chosen to help keep that cost down. That amount covers the cost of a plane ticket, other travel expenses, and both lodging and food at the Baja Bound campus. I know that God will provide for this need in some way, shape, or form, but I would like to ask you to be a part of this opportunity to help me bring Gods love to others. I would be extremely grateful with whatever you could do to support this endeavor. In this way, this becomes our opportunity to serve!

If you are willing to be a part of my financial team you can click on the donate button here or you can also send a check made out to Oak Pointe Church (50200 W 10 Mile Rd. Novi, MI 48374). You will need to write my special number (M618) on the Memo line-Mexico Mission Trip.

*You should not write my name on the check please – just the number.*

Thank you again for considering how you can be a part of this wonderful opportunity! I look forward to having you on my team as we partner together to bring hope to those in desperate need either once again or for the first time.

Sincerely,

Jim Griebe

God Bless
